Linde Advanced Material Technologies Promotes Tungsten Carbide as an Alternative to Chrome Plating on Work Rolls for Environmental Benefits

February 15, 2024

Indianapolis, IN, USA, March 3 – Linde Advanced Material Technologies (Linde AMT) has demonstrated its commitment to innovation and sustainability with its latest publication. In the February 2024 edition of AIST’s Iron & Steel Technology Journal, Linde AMT's Technology & Innovation team discusses the benefits of the EXOGARD™ coating process for work rolls to replace hard chrome plating.

The hard chrome plating process has raised environmental concerns. Linde AMT's EXOGARD™ coating process is a promising substitute that aims to deliver similar performance. Our Technology & Innovation team has been testing the EXOGARD™ coatings on textured and ground work rolls. We are constantly improving to meet the performance benchmarks of traditional hard chrome plating.

"We are proud to have achieved such groundbreaking results with our EXOGARD™ coating process," said a spokesperson for Linde AMT. "Our commitment to innovation and sustainability has always been at the forefront of everything we do, and this collaboration with our customers demonstrates our continued efforts to provide cutting-edge solutions."

Linde AMT's EXOGARD™ coatings are dense, thin, and smooth and provide wear and corrosion protection equivalent to and better than hard chrome plating. Additionally, the process is environmentally friendly, eliminating the need for toxic chemicals and reducing waste.

This latest collaboration is another example of Linde AMT's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and providing superior solutions to its customers. Linde AMT remains at the forefront as industries evolve, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
