Joel Rieken

Rieken was named vice president, Advanced Materials & Equipment (AM&E) in March 2021. In this role, he oversees the global team that produces additive manufacturing powders, thermal spray powders, slurries, specialty ceramics, polishing products, and thermal spray equipment. He joined PST in 2014 and has held various roles of increasing responsibility within the AM&E business. Prior to joining PST, he worked for the US Department of Energy (Ames Lab) and co-founded a start-up company (IPAT, Inc.), where he focused on technological advances in gas atomization of metallic alloys. He has published and patented several innovative breakthroughs in the field of gas atomization and powder processing. He received his Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from Iowa State University in 2011.
